24th World Senior Championships. Madrid, Spain. 6-11 November 2018 PDF Imprimare Email
Duminică, 15 Iulie 2018 15:26

Welcome Message
The 24th WKF Senior World Championships to be celebrated in Madrid (Spain) in November 2018 are the first event of their kind to be directly organised by the World Karate Federation, with the support of the Spanish Karate Federation and the cooperation of the Karate Federation of the Madrid region.
The World Championships are the competition that attributes a greater number of points to athletes for their participation and final result at the tournament regarding their position in the WKF Ranking. This situation substantially increments the expectations ahead of the 2018 World Championships in Madrid since the event is included in the qualification process to the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.
The participation record of 1049 athletes and 110 countries in the last edition of the World Championships in 2016 will be exceeded in Madrid without any doubt. Therefore, the competition will have one more day of elimination rounds, which are scheduled to be held from Tuesday to Friday. The program for the medal rounds will remain unchanged and will be celebrated during the weekend.
It is worth noting the remarkable support received from the authorities of the Madrid region. This involvement has propitiated the viability of the championships, which will be held in a modern sports venue of great capacity such as the WiZink Center.
These circumstances make the 24th Senior Karate World Championships a great challenge for the WKF and for Spain. The experience acquired by Spanish Karate in the organisation of three Senior World Championships, in 1980, 1992 and 2002 guarantees the perfect hosting of an event of this magnitude.
We are looking forward to your participation in this great event, and we hope that we will be able to enjoy this tournament all of us, together.
Antonio Espinós Antonio Moreno
WKF President RFEK President

Dear President / General Secretary of the National Federation of the AKF
Dear Friends,
The Asian Karate Federation has accorded the Jordan Karate Federation the honor to host the
15 th Asian Karate Federation Senior (Men & Women) Championship, to be held in Amman
between the 11 th and the 15 th of July 2018.
On behalf of the Jordan Karate Federation, it is my great pleasure to have the opportunity to
welcome your National Federation to Amman and see you actively participate in the
above-mentioned championships.
We will be honored to welcome your delegation in Jordan, commonly known as “The Peaceful,
Safe and Historical Country”, and indeed in its glorious, beautiful and mountainous capital city
Amman, also known in history as “Philadelphia”. Amman was once one of the Roman
Decapolis, and now it provides its visitors with historical and cultural destinations due to its vast
number of archaeological sites and museums.
Amman also offers its visitors with great accommodations, restaurants, various activities and
shopping for everyone. Whilst a tourist can experience bargaining in the downtown bazaar of
“Sooq Al-Bukharia” seeking antiques, rugs, copper, oriental gifts and souvenirs; others may
enjoy shopping for the latest fashion trends in one of Amman’s several magnificent malls.
With the participation and cooperation of the big Karate Family of Asia, we are proud to host the
Championships, and we will do our utmost to make it a special, successful and a memorable
event.
We very much look forward to welcoming you all in Jordan this coming July.

The honour of hosting IMMAF’s 2018 European Championships presented a catalyst for this year’s host nation; the motivational boost saw Romania emerge as one of the standout successes of the international showcase, achieving a record third place finish in the senior event’s final medal table.

In recent years, Romania had been in the shadow of its surging European counterparts. The majority of the nation’s prominence on the IMMAF competition platform had been supported by Women’s Strawweight mainstay, Raluca Dinescu, who twice battled to a European silver medal in 2015 and 2016, and World Championships bronze in 2016.

New trial confirms aerobic exercise does improve schizophrenia symptoms PDF Imprimare Email

Exercise is good for you. This isn't news of course, but there is a growing body of research that is starting to suggest that exercise can improve a variety of cognitive deficits in conditions we traditionally wouldn't think physical activity could affect. A new trial into the effects of aerobic exercise on schizophrenia has confirmed it does indeed lessen negative symptoms associated with the condition.

Our understanding into the complexity of schizophrenia has rapidly grown over recent years. What was previously thought to be just a mental health condition has now been expanded into a much more complicated disorder that may even have whole-body inflammatory roots.
