Gabil Mehdiyev, șeful serviciului de presă al Ministerului Tineretului si Sportului din Azerbaidjan, spune că inițial se preconizează să poarte discuții la nivel înalt între Guvernul Republicii Azerbaidjan și a Comitetului Olimpic European. Jocurile europene va avea până la 20 de discipline sportive, la evenimentul inaugural în iunie 2015, deși programul final nu a fost finalizat. De la un stadiu incipient, Jocurile au fost destinate să aibă un număr mic de sport non-olimpice. La data de 30 aprilie 2012. The Committee stated that discussions were ongoing in relation to athletics and the non-Olympic sports of sport climbing and dance sport. At May 14, 2013, the International Boxing Association (AIBA) confirmed its involvement in the Games. The head of the International Rowing Federation, Denis Oswald also confirmed that, despite initial reservations on the European Games concept, he had been asked by several national federations to seek to have rowing included, subject to satisfactory facilities being available; a shortened 1000 metre format (as against the Olympic Games 2000 metre format) has been suggested. There was some speculation that in the absence of agreement with European Athletics, the Games may contain an 'unsanctioned' shortened athletics programme, hosted as a four day 'international permit meeting' with invited athletes, but treated as a full medal event for the purposes of the Games. ParticipantsAs many as 7-15 000 athletes, from 49 European countries, are expected to participate in the inaugural European Games 2015.
Sports FacilitiesIt is expected that the opening ceremony of 2015 European Games, will be held in Baku Olympic Stadium, which is under construction now. Stadium will be ready in 2015.
